How to View a Solar Eclipse Without Glasses: Expert Tips
Observing the Shadows
Watching the shadows cast by leaves or other objects can be a safe way to experience the eclipse without looking directly at the sun. As the eclipse progresses, the shadows will change shape and intensity, providing a unique and captivating display.
Using a Colander or Strainer
Colander
A colander, also known as a pasta strainer, can also be used to project an image of the eclipse. Simply hold the colander about 20 inches from a surface and point it towards the sun. The holes in the colander will create a projected image of the eclipse that can be viewed safely.
Strainer
A pasta strainer or slotted spoon can also be used in a similar manner. Hold the strainer facing the sun and observe the projected image of the eclipse on a surface. The slots or holes will allow you to see a distorted but safe view of the celestial event.
